Unique Email Dropbox to auto attach to Contact
This does NOT need to be hosted email with RT It can be ANY email provider. The only key here is the unique dropbox email address.
This would be an email unique to each user on a database. By simply forwarding an email to this address or by bcc when sending a new email to a contact, the email will be attached to the contact's notes corresponding to the original email (if forwarded) or to the email being sent to (if sending a new email). If there is no contact already associated with the email, then a new contact will be created. The note will show as being added by the database user who sent the email to the unique dropbox email. (I've seen this is multiple other CRMs and have implemented this in my own CRM but decided against using since I'm the only person in our IT Department).
This suggestion is either not possible or not planned at the current time. Technology changes all the time though! The same suggestion can be added as new if desired. At this time, we have an automatic way the emails are linked so as to maintain the full and complete client correspondence with no edit-ability for compliance reasons.

Allianz sends me be a proposal on a client. I want that email to be saved to the clients record. I realize it will be saved under Allianz because the system will match up the emails, however, the option to copy the email to other records is extremely important! This is the only reason I am staying with Advisor's Assistant. In Advisor's Assistant I am able to save the record to multiple client records.

So many of Redtail's competitors have useful, logical features that come standard and Redtail seems to always say they are to complex for implementation

CAN WE PLEASE HAVE THIS ADDED? Wealthbox and multiple other CRMs have had this for years...

Could not agree more! My thinking is exactly the same as Bill O'Connell's. When the clients attorney or account emails me (but does not include the client), I would like to include that message in the client's email history. Maybe even an outlook plugin where I can hit a button in Outlook which then asks which Redtail contact I want to associate this email with? Or a data field in Redtail where I can put "associated emails" of the accountant or attorney? (But if you do that there would have to be a method to separate email conversations if the same accountant represents two separate clients).

Instead creating a new domain host to cc the emails to redtail, it should be more seamless like add-in function in outlook to link emails to a contact/activity/workflow.
It should not be hard as your competitors offer and are able to do it, i.e. salesforce, goldmine, junxure, practifi, list goes on.

I completely agree. This would be something that is extremely useful. Is it possible to update the software to incorporate a solution? Does Redtail have a current work around?

I agree 1000%. We need to be able to, in a simple way, attache an email record to a contact record not part of the email address listing. This will allow us to track activity to clients / cases we work on.

This feature would be great for any instance where communication amongst a client's team of (Financial) Professionals does not necessarily need to be seen by a client. For instance an email with an Attorney, CPA, Insurance Broker/Rep, Mortgage Rep...any one where the client may be the focus of the email.
Ability to add a client record to post the email to, much like adding a second record to an activity or note. -

Ability to link an email to a client record even if the client email address is not contained within the chain. Would save on copying the contents of the email and pasting it into the account notes. Functionality way overdue.

Our previous database was SmartOffice and it allowed us to do that. I would greatly appreciate this feature as well

Yes, we could also benefit from this.

It would be great if I could post my emails from insurance companies about the underwriting process to a clients record with out having to copy and paste to client record. Can you create options to post email to client records even if it doesn't contain the clients email address in it?

It would be nice to be able to tag an email to a contact to add it to their records without the email being to or from them. For example, an email from a fund company, B/D or custodian that is about the client but is not an email to or from the client.

it would be helpful to have an add-on feature to outlook desktop that gives me the option to attach an email to a contact record rather than full archiving of every email that comes in and out. full archiving seems excessive. i just need the final result documented. Also, it would save a lot of time to be able to drag and drop attachments from outlook without having to save them in a folder first.

Currently, the system aggregates emails sent and returned by tracking the person's email address and dropping it into the Email section of the contact. If there is no contact, there is no integration. Sometimes time does not permit adding a contact to the database so it would be nice to right mouse click or hover and "Send TO RedTail" This would create a contact name that would aggregate emails and when there is time to speak with the Team at a later date, the records would be there. Then the Team can add more detail, cell phone, etc. You can do this in Outlook currently by clicking the right mouse button and adding. Sure would be nice to do in redtail as well. Thanks for your consideration.

This is a major drawback to the software and other CRMs have this basic functionality. I do not use RT hosted email, nor do i necessarily want every single email sent to be in the history. i would like the ability to send, forward, & bcc emails to save to notes (Wealthbox has this). i may be communicating directly through the client's email or i may be communicating with another professional about this client. as of now, i am copying and pasting which is a big waste of time!

We are looking for an option to have specific emails added to a contact record from Outlook. I used SmartOffice/Ebix in the past and there is an option in Outlook to add an email to a CRM contact directly; the email address is recognized as belonging to an existing CRM contact (both Outlook and the CRM would be open for it to work). We don’t need every incoming and outgoing email archived.

-capture interoffice email that pertains to a client record without the clients email having to be listed to save it in the email history.
-further explanation talking with staff via email regarding a client would like that correspondence to be come part of the email record/history. even the old clunky smartoffice ebix allowed it to be clicked on and it would then save it to client record.
