E-mail Notification Improvement – Please Tell Us What Was Actually Changed!
These NOTIFICATIONS were ADDED TO INFORM / ALERT US THAT SOMETHING WAS CHANGED….BUT They DON’T ACTUALLY TELL us WHAT was CHANGED! …This seems a little silly, odd, and pointless unless the idea is executed in its entirety, don’t you think?
While I am thankful that I receive notifications for things like when activities are changed, the current notifications that we receive are NOT SPECIFIC ENOUGH – they ONLY STATE “Activity was changed”, and DO NOT TELL YOU ANY IMPORTANT INFORMATION, such as:
WHO changed the activity?
WHICH PART of the activity was changed?
What was the activity changed FROM and To? (either highlight new/altered information and put an asterisk after, SHOWING and labeling THE ORIGINAL INFORMATION; OR show a side-by-side comparison.)
It’s great that I get a notification and all, but extremely frustrating that I have to then waste my time PLAYING DETECTIVE, trying to figure out WHO changed the activity, WHY it was changed, WHICH PART of the activity was changed, and FROM WHAT it was changed…I shouldn’t have to interview everyone in the office to track down this information – isn’t that kind of the point of going digital??
To quote another user:
“ If I get two notifications, both about a staff meeting, the first one says it is added to my calendar and the second one, well unless I actually remember all the details about the meeting as it was first recorded, I WON’T BE ABLE TO TELL WHY I AM GETTING THE SECOND NOTIFICATION to know what about the staff meeting was changed, just that something was.”
Additionally, it would be impressive if you could also ADD AN AREA for the person who is changing the activity to explain why they are doing so. (To address possible questions from other people linked in on the activity.)
It would be EVEN BETTER if an OPTION IS ADDED for the creator/editor to TURN ON/OFF NOTIFICATIONS for (non-critical) activities…sometimes every now-and-again notifications for certain activities are just annoying, but I don’t want to go all the way in and CHANGE my ENTIRE NOTIFICATION SETTINGS just to add ONE event…and then go and switch it back again – that’s just a little ridiculous.
** THIS SAME IMPROVEMENT REQUEST APPLIES TO NOTIFICATIONS sent about NOTES BEING ADDED TO A CONTACT **
…In this instance, why not just provide a TRANSCRIPT IN THE E-MAIL of the note that was added & which contact it was added to? Again, wouldn’t doing that kind of just complete the point of sending the notification in the first place??
These additions seem reasonable to expect and to execute.

I'd vote for this a million times if I could. I love being notified, but don't have time to have to go back to the activity to figure out what was changed. This improvement would be most helpful.

This needs to read who changed the activity as well.

While I am thankful that I can get notifications for things like when activities change but I feel the notification is not specific enough. I would like to see what exactly has changed so if it go rescheduled says it used to be November 18th, now it says November 20th, as well as who made the change. If the notification is for a newly inputted activity make sure that it says that it is a new activity and again, say who added that activity. If I get two notifications, both about a staff meeting, the first one says it is added to my calendar and the second one, well unless I actually remember all the details about the meeting as it was first recorded, I won't be able to tell why I am getting the second notification to know what about the staff meeting was changed, just that something was.
