Add state of residence of contact without an address
We ALWAYS know what state a potential client resides in. Any prospective client will gladly tell us what state they reside in because that is crucial to the relationship. States have different laws, different taxes and advisors are only licensed and can do business in certain states. On the flip side, people (in general) are incredibly hesitant to give out their home address until a relationship is built. So we will always know the state and will not know the address until a relationship is built. So adding a state without an address is absolutely crucial. And marketing is very…

Be able to tell when a client's preferred contact method is via text
On the contact record the preferred function allows us to know whether the account prefers initial contact attempts via phone, email, or mail. With more and more texting solutions coming online for advisors we will soon have the issue of not being able to tell the difference between a client whose preference is a call vs a text. Also, maybe a checkbox next to the phone numbers that let us know for clients that have phones that text, whether the client themselves are comfortable enough using text messages to do any communication via text.

Add calculated UDF capability
Having the option to create UDFs that are calculated based on other fields would be immensely beneficial. Potential uses include:
Automatic RMD calculation
- Automatically adjust divisor based on client age
- Automatically calculate RMD given 12/31 balance and divisor
- Could create a "Remaining RMD" field that can help track distributions taken to-date
Better reporting on time-based activities -- fields can auto-update based on date triggers
Client groupings that update automatically based on age, AUM, etc.

Turn off auto creation of employer records
Give the database owner the ability to turn off the auto creation of employer contract records. I find it annoying to have records created for employers as I don't ever use them and they don't get categorized properly.

add a marital status
I would like to add "Minor" as a Marital Status option for dependent clients with accounts linked to parents or grandparents. In addition to the additional status, I would like a notification when the minor reaches age of majority so their Marital Status can be changed to "Single" or whatever the case may be.

401k Clients & Prospects
Make Redtail more user-friendly and appropriate for 401k/403b/Etc. advisor services. If the contact is a business and a client or prospect - it should have options to record: Plan type, Assets, participant count, service providers (recordkeeper/TPA), and plan number. Not information like male/female, age, height, weight, citizenship, etc. None of that information is appropriate to a business,so there should be fields that would automatically change input information required depending on if the contact record was a business or an individual.

primary contact
On the Contact Card can you make the primary for each category a different color or more obvious. The bold is does not stand out enough.

Distinguishing minor children from adult children
It would be ideal to be able to distinguish minor children (who need to have the same contact info as the parent) from adult children (who need different address/phone, etc., from the parent), yet still be able to see them in the same list (not half in Memberships and half in the family area).

multiple contact status and categories
It would be great if we could select multiple status and categories for contact records. For instance, we have business relationship - Active for a Contact Status. I would like to be able to select more than one Category, for instance COI and Vendor.

List Referrals for a client on their contact page
Add a feature where we could see all the referrals made by a client via their contact record. This would enable us to see who our greatest referral sources are and keep track of names referred to us.

Online Fact Finder
To be able to send a secure link to a new client to have them fill in selected information about themselves. Things such as DOB, SSN, address, etc.

bulk client type change
would be incredibly helpful to have an option to bulk change client type(go from association or business to individual) as when our files were imported a TON of individual clients were input as business or association. it will take a long time to correct individually.

insurance license
Under Licensing, it would be nice to have a section to record agent's state insurance licenses, including state, number, effective date and expiration date, with the ability to set alerts (30 or 60-day) for upcoming renewals.

When adding a new contact for a husband and a wife, more then just the address & phone # should be added for the spouse
All the fields should be defaulted to copy the first entry, The permissions, tags,teams, status, category, source. Referred by, servicing advisor, writing advisors. etc. Why do these fields not auto-populated from the spouse?

Viewing permissions for contact list
Permissions to view all contacts from the contact page for everyone, but deny permissions to select and view the individual record and/or account. We don't want duplicate clients. We have situations where one agent is securities licensed and takes care of the fiducial side and a separate agent takes care of the insurance (and is not securities licensed. Giving permission to both to view the record does not meet compliance.

UDF Value Appearance
When we're typing in the UDF sections; whether in contacts or accounts, it would be great if the breaks we enter would correspond with what is shown after the UDF is saved.
For instance, I use account UDF's to track RMD's. So mine might look like this:
2017 RMD amount for account = $***.xx
2017 RMDs total = $xxxx.xx
Total 2017 Distributions = $xxxx.xx
However, when I save and close the UDF, it doesn't read the same on the screen. The page breaks basically don't exist, so the note doesn't have lines where I want them to be. It would…

Reformat the Contact Card to Allow Cutomization
Add ability to click and drag sections to rearrange how they are positioned on the contact card (tailor to user preference); also add ability to save contact card layout template
For example: Would like to have UDF's show at the top of the page when on a contact card instead of having to scroll to the bottom and have a skinnier note section that scrolls on the right versus left.

POA/Primary Contact
If a client has a POA then it needs to be something that there is a place for to easily record, like under important information. If that POA happens to be the point of contact, then that primary contact field and the name of the POA should be at the TOP of the contact page so you know instantly that all communications are funneled through them. Also, sometimes a POA is only on an account level, there should be a spot on there to list them.
