  1. Tracking maiden names and name changes.

    A long-time client gets married, you make the changes in Redtail, but you know them by their previous name. It would be helpful to have a way to pull them by their maiden names, without having to hyphenate it for the sake of being able to pull it. A way to link a maiden name, that is no longer a legal name, to the new married name.

  2. Trusted Contact

    Under the contact record, can we please add fields for "Trusted Contacts"? We need to record the name, address, phone, and email of Trusted Contacts in a way that is easy to find. We are currently adding it to the "Important Information", but having a specific field in the contact info would be more helpful. It would also be nice if there was a checkbox somewhere that you could click if Trusted Contact is "declined", as this is something required going forward.

  3. Enable user defined fields to have a customizable order

    I think it is key to enable user defined fields to have a customizable order, not just alphabetical. This would allow users to format and better fit UDF's to their specific needs. I know that we are evaluating other options for our CRM needs because of the lack in customization with UDF's, if there were more options on this front, it would allow us to stay with Redtail.

  4. Add an option for name pronunciation

    We have several clients with unusual or difficult to pronounce names. Right now, we keep information on pronunciation in the Important Info section, but it would be really convenient to have this displayed more prominently or closer to the name on the top of the contact record.

  5. add a designated beneficiary area for beneficiary information.

    Memberships isn't good enough. Adding beneficiaries to individual accounts is too time consuming. What I'm surprised Redtail doesn't offer is a designated area for beneficiary information (like a tab under Know Your Client). For our office, beneficiaries usually are the same across all accounts, minus a couple here and there. It would be nice if we had a specific region that would have the following:

    Beneficiary Name
    Beneficiary Type (Primary, Contingent, etc)
    Relationship
    Date of Birth
    Social Security Number
    Percentage

    As well as, a place to add accounts manually AND link accounts, not one or the other. It would be…

  6. Contact Permission Checkbox

    When adding Contact Permissions, it would be much easier to select what users/teams need to have permission with a checkbox list than to click "Add", select one, click "Add Permission," then go do it all over again for as many need to be assigned.

  7. Update clients contact photo based off of their linked social media website

    I think it would be great to have the ability for our client's contact record photo be updated to whatever the image they have on their connected social media website. For those who have multiple social media websites, I feel it would be easy to give the advisor a choice on which photo to have system default to use.

  9. Allow customization of "Servicing Advisor" and "Writing Advisor" terms

    We are a wealth management firm that is not an RIA. We do not have sub-advisors, nor do we use the terminology "writing advisor" (this confuses everyone).

    It would be great to customize how we refer to the team members who are bringing in business and managing each client relationship. We might decide to call them "Relationship Manager" and "Sales Manager" for example.

  10. RMD Ages in Contact Information

    Someone just emailed me asking about putting the client age in years and months (78.8 years) so they can see the client's exact age for, example, taking a withdrawal without penalty. They suggested it would be in the Contact Details under the DOB. Thanks!

  11. Show Contact Details on all pages

    Right now, the "Contact Details" section only shows on the client overview page. Having access to this information on other pages (like the "Contact Card") is extremely important. It is a hassle to have to return to the overview page just to retrieve a Date of Birth or Tax ID. It would be so much easier to display this on every page, including the pages for each individual account. When talking with an insurance company while viewing the clients policy details, we need access to this information. It should be displayed under the contact card, just like it is on…

  12. Servicing Advisor = Advisor Role

    Workflows are best used when tasks are assigned to different "roles" within each firm. If we went to the trouble to assign a Servicing Advisor to every contact, why now do we also need to assign an Advisor Role to every contact? Seems redundant.

    Sure, you can do a bulk change to assign all servicing advisors the advisor role. But why? If contacts are always getting added, how frequently should you need to run these bulk actions before running a workflow. Recipe for mistakes...

  13. Link a contact to Multiple Folders in Imaging

    Currently we can only link a contact to one folder in imaging. It would be helpful to allow 2 or more folders for clients who have both personal and group retirement plan accounts.

    Example of my Imaging Library:

    -Client 1
    -Client 2
    -Client 3
    -ABC Corp 401(k)
    *Participant A
    *Participant B
    *Client 2

    Because Client 2 is already linked to their "personal folder" I can't link them to their own sub-folder within the 401(k) plan. When viewing in the CRM, I won't see these documents unless I remember to manually search for them.

  15. Link Multiple Contacts at once in Imaging

    Imaging allows multiple contacts to be linked to a folder. But each one has to be added individually. We should be able to link a husband and wife to their household folder without having to save the first person and locate the folder again from the home screen.

  16. Show "Partner to" under Contact Name when Marital Status is set to "Life Partner"

    Currently, after a household/family is created, the contact record shows "Married to {spouse name}" under the contact's name whether the Marital Status is set to "Married" or "Life Partner". It would be great to see this say "Partner to {partner name}" when the Marital Status is set to "Life Partner".

  17. synchronize wedding anniversary

    Should only have to add wedding anniversary to either husband or wife record and see it synchronized without having to manually add it to both.

  18. Make Contact left menu bar customizable

    it would be great to be able to customize the left menu bar on the Contact's page so we can put the items we use the most at the top and not have to click "more"

  19. Department contacts need to hyperlink to contact card

    Department contacts need to hyperlink to contact card. Just like they do in professional contacts where you can click to the professional contact and go to their contact card... this needs to be duplicated.

    Allowing us to record when a client is engaged, though not a legally binding status, lets us prepare to have a conversation around merging assets and the other financial impacts of marriage.
