opportunity referral tracking
An opportunity should have a field that is Referral and that referral should be able to be a linkable back to a contact. At the very least, the opportunity should have a fillable text box for a referral like a contac currently has. I carry around printed opportunity lists as they are my lifeblood as a sales person. It' would be very helpful to know who referred me to that opportunity.

I am surprised more people do not find this critical. Revenues from closed opportunities are either credited to me exclusively or partially, depending if it was from a referral in the office. This is helpful for revenue reporting.
This is also critical for a sales person to look back on a year and see where his successful closed business came from. That is where he/she needs to focus their marketing and networking attention the following year.
