Allow Tasks to be moved between workflow Steps

I understand that the order of Tasks within a single Step is not terribly important (all of a Step's Tasks are assigned at the same time, when the prior step is completed). I, like many other users, would like to be able to re-order them anyway, even if it is merely cosmetic.

But the real issue of concern is the lack of ability to move a Task between workflow Steps. So, if you realize that Task F actually needs to be under Step 3, rather than Step 4, you have to manually re-create it under Step 3, then delete it under Step 4. That process is inefficient and creates opportunities for errors.

    This feels so simple to enact and so critical to the usefulness of workflows. It is a huge stumbling block to the practical use of the workflows.

    I would love to have the ability to move a task not only between steps, but also from one workflow to another. Seems like it should be more simple than creating a new one and deleting the other one.

    This is so annoying and time consuming that this is not a feature, yet it seems SO BASIC...

    Also, wow. Suggested nearly FIVE years ago, RedTail responded THREE years later. At this time there's been 542 votes, 37 comments. They just made some workflow updates and this was not a part of it!?

    I'm becoming jaded with this suggestion feature looking at this suggestion's (and a few others) history. I can't imagine how overwhelming reviewing all these suggestions can be...but honestly, how the heck are you guys prioritizing these?

    Be able to complete a task that is NOT in the current step. So if I have 3 steps and I haven't finished step 1 yet, I would still like to be able to mark a task in step 3 as "complete."

    Yes! I was coming to this page just to suggest this feature. Would be very helpful as it is twice the work to delete then recreate the task under a different step. Not sure why it's four years later with 508 votes and 35 comments and Redtail still hasn't fixed this simple issue!!

    Moving tasks from one step to another step would be extremely helpful. Also, being able to create a new step as the first step would be helpful. I am not able to move a "new step" to the top to become a first step.

    This is a big deal!! Being able to move tasks from one step to another step would make workflows less cumbersome and more user friendly by saving a lot of time. There are too many occasions when we need to close out a step to move on to other tasks but 1 task in that step is hindering it.

    Add quick step for user to reorganize an individual task within the same Step or other steps for greater efficiency.

    We still need this! especially when a step is completed but there is a lingering step that can be done at the next step - we want to be able to move it forward so we can move along with the workflow. We use workflows heavily and this is much needed especially when you have a on off scenario within a typical workflow

    I need the ability to drag and rearrange tasks in each step. Currently, it is difficult to place the tasks in order.

    We definitely would like the ability to re-order tasks within a Step. Sometimes we will add a Task to a Step and we don't necessarily want it to be the last Task. Seems this should be an easy fix as you are currently able to re-order steps. Why not Tasks?

    We find some workflows are more usable to have just one step and several tasks to be used more like a checklist. But we would like in a particular order to make more sense for the user. Please make tasks movable just like steps.

    Steps are movable when building a workflow. Please make tasks movable as well.
