Add Revenue to the Opportunities dashboard and reports
Add Revenue to the Opportunities dashboard top line... some firms are less worried about assets and more focused on revenue.
The suggestion may be planned, but there is no timeline on this feature being added. This suggestion is remaining open and can continue to gather votes and comments!

A report that calculates expected revenue for each opportunity (Potential Revenue x Probability = Expected Revenue), and then aggregates Expected Revenue for all opportunities, which would be very helpful for budgeting and cash flow management purposes. As it is, there is little use in entering probabilities because it is not leveraged in any report.

I would like to see Projected Revenue as a column when I'm looking at my opportunities tab. That way when I export my report I can write a simple sum function on excel totaling my potential sales.
Obviously revenue and amount are different and amount does nothing to show me my projected income on my various opportunities.

Yes, do this!

IT would be beneficial if the opportunities report would also provide the revenue and / or expected revenue for each opportunity and/or allow us to choose those fields for the report. You have fields where we can enter the data but that information loses its value if it can't be downloaded and summarized as part of the report.

I think this would be a major benefit to all user. I know it would take quite a bit of work. I think what would be a giant step forward would be to allow us to add additional types to the opportunities or Just allow a few UDF to the opportunities. I current use a spreadsheet that I export the data from redtail and then run a few macros for my forecasting of revenue. It isnt perfect but serves the purpose till this functionality is available. If we had the UDF in opportunities and would allow us custom types this would be a major benefit.
The big one i am hoping comes soon is the additional opportunity types.

Add projected revenue as a field next to amount on the opportunity tracker report or export so offices can compare projections.

to be clear- on the opportunity page you can not see or report on expected revenue- only on the "amount" which relates to assets

Lets say I have an Opportunity to manage $200,000 then I also have an opportunity to sell them an insurance policy which will pay $1,000 in commissions. Commingling these are impossible and doesn't produce an accurate pipeline revenue projection.

I completely agree with this, and since there is a field for entering the probability and the projected revenue from the Opportunity (at least in Tailwag), there should be a way to run a report with that information, but for some reason there isn't an option to include the revenue projections on the Opportunity reports.
Personally, I would also love to see the same type of option to run a revenue projection on all the Accounts set up within Redtail. Strangely, there is a field to enter expected revenue when creating an Opportunity, but there is no such field (that I have found) to enter revenue projections within the Account area under a contact, but only the information pertaining to premiums, investment balances, etc. It would be great if Redtail would automatically convert a won Opportunity to an Account under the appropriate Contact, and then allow us to use that info for revenue projections for our entire book, either for the entire firm or by rep. For us, this would be very helpful and, I think, a welcome feature to many advisor practices.

Why has this still not gotten more attention?!?!?! Such a crucial piece to firms tracking business!! One of two things is happening: firms are tracking it offline or they are not running very goal-oriented businesses if they're not concerned with making sure that opportunities are flowing in and out of the practice in a timely, tracked manner!! Sheesh!!

So, this idea has been floating out there for 4 years. It seems to be the most crucial part of business management. Is this ever going to be implemented?

We have only recently started using Redtail and making the upgrades as suggested here would really be beneficial. As it is, it's not very functional for us.

I LOVE this idea!! Putting a dollar amount in the field on an IRA rollover has different meanings than a dollar amount of a life insurance policy which is different than a fee paid for financial planning services. Great suggestion!!

I would suggest that you be able to see when an opportunity started as well. I'd like to run report each week that shows what new opportunities were added in the week as well as what activities closed that week.
Would also like the notes from the opportunities to go to the attached contacts as well.

Yes please! And also add a way to filter by date! Having a list of hundreds of Opportunities takes ages to load and is terribly cumbersome at best! Even just the ability to pull up, for example, This Year, Last Year, YTD, First Quarter, Second Quarter, etc. would be a great improvement if you can't do a custom date range search. We still also need a way to limit permissions so not everyone can see everyone else's Opportunities, and MOST importantly, we need to have at least one custom field for this section - we need a drop-down list where we can set account type for the Opportunity - such as "Insurance," "Annuity," "Investment," etc., and maybe another field as well to define the carrier that is used.... Major improvements are needed in this section, which is incredibly important to all businesses I would think, and I can't believe it still hasn't been addressed yet....

I agree with this sentiment as well. My suggestion would to also add an additional column on the Opportunities page that allows us to see what linked contacts are with the given opportunity as well as expanding on the bells and whistles that are available in the current section. Great suggestions and starting points...hopefully RT has goals of starting this sooner rather than later. I've tried using it lately but still find its functionality to be archaic at best.

i would agree with this also and add that when you are linking an opportunity to a client when your looking at the opportunites page you can not tell whos opportunity is whos without opening it up which does not make sense to me

It seems that all of the feature enhancements in Opportunity Trackers aren't getting much attention. I agree, this is the ONE area that needs significant improvement. A great first start would be fixing the "sort" and "filter" features so that your last sort/filter is saved. It always disappears immediately after going into another section of Redtail or another contact. This makes it incredibly difficult to find your prospects within a long list.

In Classic Redtail, we have found the Opportunity section cumbersome enough that we have pretty much abandoned using it. There is great unrealized potential there. The above suggestions are a great start and are items I also have thought of.
