Customize Opportunity "Type"
Looking to customize the Opportunity "Type." Currently "New Business" and "Existing Business" are the only options. We would love to have the ability to customize the Opportunity "Type" just like we are able to customize the Opportunity "Stage."
This feature is now available. You can create custom opportunities by navigating to the "Navigate Database Lists" page from the "Preferences" list page. Once on the "Navigate Database Lists" page, select the Opportunities option and then select types. From there, you can add or remove custom opportunity types.

It would be nice to be able to remove the New and Existing Business from the Opportuntiy Types listing that way we would only be able to select from our customized listing created.

Would love to see this added. Should be a relatively easy addition, I'd think.

Allowing for additional "type" selections would be extremely helpful for tracking KPI's appropriately. (i.e. AUM, financial planning, life, disability, etc).

This doesn't seem like that hard of a change, would love to see it.

Would love to be able to choose from or add more opportunity types, other than just "new business" or "existing client"
I.E. Life Insurance, P&C, Lending, Rollover, Taxable Investment, Etc.

We would love the ability to be able to customize the "type" section of Opportunities. Right now, "New Business" and "Existing Business" doesn't help us out.

^^^^THIS^^^^ Having the ability to customize database lists for Opportunity Types would be helpful in environments where organizations are trying to create consistency and process. This would allow larger firms to utilize their existing naming conventions within Redtail to accommodate without much disruption or learning curve for users.

Opportunity "type" selection. We do AUM, financial planning, life, disability, etc. It would be very helpful to be able track those totals independently. Right now, most of the "opportunity" seems to only want to track investment accounts.

The ability to separate opportunities into different lines of business would be extremely helpful. I currently use the Stage field to categorize opportunities as I consider the opportunity type to be more important than the stage the opportunity is in. Obviously, this method limits the usefulness of the Opportunity Tracker. Please consider adding this.

Add custom opportunity types. Currently we have two options "New Business" and "Existing Business". I would like to be able create my own choices. For example; AUM, Life Insurance, Disability Insurance, VA, Fee: Plan, Fee: Consulting to name a few.

When viewing the opportunity tracker we would like to see a product type field (ie) LI, AUM, LTC ...

I have mentioned this in year a few times. The opportunity types need to be able to track revenue in multiple says so that you can accommodate different advisor business models. i would like to see separate tracking for things like financial planning fees, commissions, AUM, etc. I would also like to be able to sort and filter and run reports by these different opportunity types. i do not currently use the opportunity tracker because of this. i am using a separate spreadsheet to track :(

Opportunity Type (Editing Types).
We have multiple channels of service - Advisory, Investment Only, Planning & Consultation. Please enable us to either edit the "Type" category or add a new custom category for "Opportunity Type" so that we can track these opportunities separately. Example: a Planning & Consultation opportunity that we Close at $50k is $50k in revenue, while an Advisory client we close at $50k is more like $500 in revenue... big difference! -

i agree 100%. As an addendum, WealthBox has a feature where can select the type of opportunity -- AUM, Fee, Commission, and Other. It also tracks each of these separately at the top of the opportunities page, so you can see how much is pending for each type. I'm shocked that financial advisor specific software doesn't have this.

Our firm is large and has different divisions and different types of opportunities. We want to use the Opportunity Tracker to evaluate our close ratios and close cycles for different opportunity types. For example, we would like to segregate our Institutional Retirement Plans from our mass market prospects because the amounts involved and the close ratios and prospecting timelines will be completely different. Keeping them all in one Opportunity Tracker will aggregate all opportunities so that the data becomes almost meaningless. How can I determine the average new assets per advisor for a given time period when the Institutional 401K clients represent tens of millions each? That completely skews the data.
Other "lanes" we would like to have is a HNW lane, a Rookie lane for our newest advisors, a lane for the professional athletes division, risk management (insurance) opportunities, etc. We expect that each of these "lanes" will have different prospecting timelines and close ratios and we would like to know the specifics for each type of opportunity. Right now, there is no simple way to get to this data.
Ultimately, we would like a way to run them in separate Opportunity Trackers so that when it aggregates the opportunities, the total amount shown at the top will be accurate. Such as, Risk Management Opportunities 39, Projected Revenue 1 million. Or possibly Cornerstone Retire Opportunities 8, Projected Assets 34 million. If this could be done by adding an additional field and then running a report, that would be fine, as well.
