Show All Family and Memberships Relationships on the Same Page so that I can track Multiple Generations
The Family/household page provides a nice tree of relationships for dependents. However, when the other members become clients it creates a conflict and we must move them to a seperate contact or the head of household for children overrides address contact fields. We then must use Memberships page- which has NO easy view.
I am asking that all relationships show on the family page regardless of dependent status by having a dependent option on setup. The view would be maintained including parents grandparents kids inlaws etc. But contact data could be dependent on head of household or not dependent based on that option.
The suggestion may be planned, but there is no timeline on this feature being added.
This suggestion is remaining open and can continue to gather votes and comments!

Include non-dependents as family-tree members. POA, Siblings, parents, grown children, grand children, aunts and uncles, etc

Most of our clients are elderly so we handle their family accounts for many generations. We should be able to add all family members to the family link vs. memberships. The membership feature is not easily accessible and seems to be more for linking CPAs, attorneys, etc. to clients.

I agree! It is irritating to have to add extended and adult family members under the membership tab. Maybe divide the family tab into two sections, the single household structure as well as a related family.

Make this a priority! I just ran into a situation where the grandparent passed and they had 529 plans for there grand-children. I thought all of the grandchildren belonged to one of the daughters and sent her the paperwork to process the change. WRONG, one grandchildren belonged to the other daughter. There is no way for me to track that effectively. Make the Family tree better and add the ability to add family trusts and family businesses for the structure. Dont tell me to use memberships for this.

Membership is my most widely used feature from the left nav bar but it is located below the initial view line where you have to click "more" in the left hand Nav bar to see it. The left Nav bar should have a preference control allowing the user to move their most used items to the top.

I agree 100% - until this is fixed though, as a work-around in these instances, we have been adding family members under the "Membership" tab on the client's profile. (Under "Manage Database Lists" you can create your own membership codes, i.e. "Father", "Mother", "Child", "Grandchild", etc.).
It is time consuming to recreate everything you have already linked in the family tree, and there SHOULD be a better way (I think the problem MAY lie with the fact that members in the family tree are listed as "DEPENDENTS", which technically refers to something different altogether & should therefore be a separate category from a "Family Tree" which depicts lineage.)...but as a patch-fix in the meantime, this may help you. -

Non-traditional families, extended families, son-in-law, grandchild - these things should be able to be connected via family tree, without forcing addresses to change. Adult children living in another state, grandchildren don't live with grandparents but are in the will...

I love your family tree. I do not love that you have to destroy it when a child marries. There should be a provision for the family tree to show ALL relations, whether connected financially or not.
This relates to end of year reports on family groups, who is a generational client for reporting, etc.
If a daughter marries & her name changes, you have to remove her from the family tree, which means any new employees have no way of knowing she's Mr. & Mrs. Smith's daughter, who has had accounts with us for 15 years, and just became her own separate client last month.

Could not agree more! Please have membership section and family relationship section talk to one another. There is NO place in the whole software that shows a section where you can see the entire family tree in one place. PLEASE address this issue. Its been years and no change!!!

I agree with these comments and would suggest these improvements be implemented. So much of financial planning/advice, is household based.

There is a section for professional contacts which only gives you options to choose from determined by Redtail, the family section which only gives you options determined by Redtail- so if you need to add a professional contact that does not fit the options given to you or a family that does not fit the options given to you, then you have to put them in memberships. So with that logic, you could potentially have professional contacts in 2 different places AND family members in 2 different places. How does this make sense?? Give us the ability to put ALL professional contacts in 1 place and ALL family relationships in one place!

1) Memberships should be available in the left side panel without clicking more buttons
2) Membership reports should show the Date Of Birth and current Age
3) Memberships should be listed out as part of the "Personal Profile Form"Reason:
When compiling an annual review for a client the memberships are very important. As we start talking about wealth transfer and legacy planning it is important to show who is family and what stage they are in in their current life. -

Agree w/ extended family tree! I would love to help my team see how relationships are intertwined. We had a client for over 20 years, she passed away but her four kids remained plus brought over more assets. It is a $2.5MM relationship with 24 accounts now! We have kids/wives + grandchildren/husbands + great grandbabies and 529s! I used Meister Task to help my team see all of this as w/ name changes, it is even harder to tell who is related to whom. So, certainly would love a 'non dependent' option to link family members w/o duplicating records.

I agree on this. I just started with my company roughly 5 months ago and they did not know that you had to tie other family members under the membership tab. I am now having to go through each client and untie children that are on their own, as well as the other family members. It is very time consuming and would make it easier if it was all done under the family tree.

An improved family tree is great! If contacts are noted as parents/children in the membership listing, they should be added to the family tree.

If the family members were a pop up as the result of a right click, that would be awesome.

Looking for a way to have more flexibility to link children to head of household records. And have the flexibility to link info without having to add a child to the database. or to be able to choose and select who should be considered a child as many families now are extending where an 80 year old lives with the son or daughter, and want to be able to choose and have flexibility of who should be there

When you add a family member to a client record automatically add them to memberships to reduce double entry,

When a dependent child becomes an adult child and becomes a legitimate client, they also need to be identified as a Head of Household in the Redtail. To do that, the adult child can no longer be referenced as a member of the family through the Dependent field. Can you please allow ALL children, adult kids and minors, to continue to be referenced as part of a family without having to: 1) remove them as a DEPENDENT, 2) go through multiple clicks to then add them back them as MEMBERS to the mom, the dad, the brothers, the sisters, etc. Perhaps the DEPENDENT field could be changed to FAMILY MEMBER and a click box can indicate: __ dependent or __ non-dependent . And an additional drop-down box can indicate: son, daughter, etc
