Workflow automation to create Activities
The ability for the Workflow steps to automatically create Activities that can be assigned to specific users/teams. Also, the next step in the Workflow would not start until all of the assigned activities in the previous step are completed.
The way that we see Workflows is that they are the "big picture" step-by-step guide & the individual Activities ("Tasks") are the place for the instructions & notes of that particular step.
This would also alleviate the head ache of having to check your Activities list & your Workflows each day & in the past.
The suggestion may be planned, but there is no timeline on this feature being added. This suggestion is remaining open and can continue to gather votes and comments!

Would love to see this happen! I used Junxure a million years ago - their workflows created activities and were much more streamlined. There really isn't a need to have a difference between tasks and activities.

Found this page via Google search for the same idea. Was this ever implemented?

Automation for Activities/Tasks from WorkFlows is highly important and one would consider the entire point of a CRM. Redtail's job is to reduce redundancy in our line of work. If Redtail can't seem to get it together then I'll look at other options like SalesForce

Automation would be a HUGE improvement to both workflows and activities. Please consider putting it on the timeline.

Why are workflows and activities separate from each other? Instead of tasks in the steps of the workflow, we should have activities. They should be linked.

I would like to be able to set up an automation to create an activity. For instance, my appointment setter schedules an annual review and we want an all day task set in the calendar to prepare their file 2 days ahead.

Yes! We desperately need automations that DO things, instead of just remind us of all the things we need to do.
I like the idea in #3 (one workflow be able to trigger a new workflow).... but maybe as an automation? The trigger is a completed workflow, and the action is link a workflow template ... at a configurable later date. I don't need to have next year's annual workflow active until next year. -

The whole workflows, automations system could use some updates. Like the fact that workflows can't trigger activities (that show up under the today view easily).
Other ideas:
1. When Client Review is marked completed and it has no linked notes, trigger workflow/another activity/or reminder that tells advisor to make notes about the meeting.
2.When an activity with a certain category/type combination is due (or completed) let it either trigger a workflow.
3. Let end of one workflow be able to trigger a new workflow. Finished annual review workflow for this year so lets trigger the next which then will set it up for met o schedule the next meeting automatically.
4. When an account gets added, if it is an account type (that i can specify) that needs an RMD, let it trigger an RMD workflow
5. When a client hits 70 1/2 let it be able to start a worlfow and/or put certain RMD keywords in on their contact.
